Team Liquid Dota 2 Manager Stops the Rumors About Players Not Having Contracts

Earlier today a Dota 2 subreddit user took the time to translate a part of the Maincast’s MainShow where the renowned commentator Vitalii ‘V1lat’ Volochai talked about some of the possible reasons for which Team Liquid withdrew from the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor.

V1lat presented the things he knows as rumors which he heard from sources he said he trusts. According to the Dota2 subreddit user translation V1lat said the followings:

“I wouldn’t state that as fact, but a couple of separate, independent sources I tend to trust told me the same thing: Liquid players’ contracts expired after TI8. Meaning Kuro, Matumbaman, Mind_Control etc, currently, don’t have contracts with the Liquid organization. They’ve been talking about re-signing for a long time, but before the Major qualifiers, the organization also held negotiations with other squads. Notably, some of the org-less teams (that later signed with different orgs) received actual contract offers – I won’t say who, but you could probably figure it out.

They didn’t manage to sign anyone – that’s evident. After that, they probably switched their resources to re-signing the existing players. Considering how weird this entire situation is – notably, the entire team missing the Minor because of health concerns of one player, even though stand-ins are permitted by Valve – I have a feeling that the players, still not under contract, went on strike. Well, maybe not literally, but they’re showing to the organization: if you don’t agree to our demands, we simply won’t attend any tournaments.”

This piece of information comes two weeks after Liquid cited health issues that prevented them to travel at the first Minor of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season and a week after Team Liquid’s TI7 and TI8 Coach ensured the fans that those health issues are not something to worry about, but more like an advice received from player’s personal doctors to take a proper break to avoid getting burned-out.

In response to V1lat’s reports from today, the Team Liquid Dota 2 team Manager Mohamed Morad denied all the rumors with a short Twitter post that reads: ?”what v1lat said about my guys is not true.”

Team Liquid have no tournament on their schedule right now. They lost the European qualifiers for the Kuala Lumpur Major, they didn’t participate in the regional qualifiers for the upcoming ESL One Hamburg 2018 and they haven’t participated in any of the online tournaments or LANs from the past few weeks.
