MyoVise Body Clamp Print PDF
The ShiatsuMD MyoVise allows the user to apply intense pressure to small targeted areas of the body when administering myofascial release and trigger point release therapies.
Using the simple tool is similar to using a hand nutcracker, or pruning shears, whereby the targeted area (such as the neck) is placed between a contact point of each rod while grasping each handle and then squeezing them toward each other. The pressure should be held at least 30 seconds or longer, continuing to apply more pressure if desired. The pressure can be static or you can easily rotate the handles by twisting your wrist and create a massaging effect while squeezing.
Instead of a single fixed contact point, each rod has two contact surfaces attached that are movable, as well as the wooden rod itself. By manipulating the alignment of each, you can choose which contact surfaces you prefer. You may find that pinching some area between the wooden rod and a ball is better than pinching the area with two opposing balls.
Another feature is the 3 small holes bored in each contact ball. These allow you to insert either one or both wooden tips that are included for pinpoint targeted deep pressure. Each hole is bored at a different angle so that various areas of the body can all be approached as perpendicular (90 degrees) to the target as possible to reduce the twisting action that occurs as pressure is increased. NOTE: The tips are accessories and are not needed to use the tool.
As with any massage tool, experiment and be creative as you adapt the tools to your needs.
