2)   I have just had surgery, should I use the ShiatsuBag or MyoBalls and begin self-massage?

No. Do not administer any self therapy techinques without consulting a physician or physical therapist. Post surgery therapy can only be determined by licensed medical professionals.

3)   I have a nagging injury, should I use the ShiatsuBag or MyoBalls and begin self-therapy?

Administering self treatment should only occur when you are certain the type of therapy you choose will only be beneficial to your condition.  While most injuries are minor and common sense allows you to determine when to use self therapy techniques, you should consult a doctor when there is any uncertainty.  The concept of good slow pain applies to most self applied therapies.  If you experience rapid sharp pain, STOP!

4)   The balls are too hard and are painful, what can I do?

a)  If you are using the ShiatsuBag on a hard surface like the floor, hard table or bench, the easiest solution is to      move to a softer support surface such as soft carpet, workout mat, bed, or a sofa.

b)  If you are using the firmer 3.5" MyoBalls, replace some of them with the 4" soft MyoBalls.

c)  Add more balls to the ShiatsuBag so that there are more points of contact with your body which distributes the      force over a larger area.

c)  Place the ShiatsuBag on top of a cushioning material such as a foam bedpad, blanket, or comforter.

d)  Place a padding layer on top of the ShiatsuBag such as a towel, sleeping bag, or blanket.

e)  Wear thicker clothing like a sweatshirt or 2 T-shirts.

f)   Any combination of a - e.

5)   I have a hard body and the balls are too soft what can I do?

a)  Use the ShiatsuBag on the hardest surface available, concrete, tile, or hardwood floors, tables, and countertops.

b)  If you are using any of the soft 4" MyoBalls, replace them with the 3.5" firm MyoBalls.

c)  Reduce the number of balls in the ShiatsuBag so the number of contact points is reduced creating more mass at      each contact point.

d)  Special order the 3.5" Rock MyoBall via email

e)  Get ahold of some of the hard softballs from a sporting goods store, they are heavy but provide great       penetration!

f)   Any combination of a - e.

6)   I want to the ShiatsuBag to roll more, what can I do?

The Bag is made of Lycra and will "break in" and stretch with use allowing for much better roll-ability. If you remove some of balls it will roll more effectively. The firmer 3.5" MyoBalls with a smooth surface roll better than the 3" natural sufaced balls.  In the future all balls will be available with a smooth surface.

7)   Why is the bag round?

The ShiatsuBag is round with segmented panels to improve its ability to move in any direction without having the balls get caught up in corners. As the lycra bag stretches, its ability to roll freely in all directions improves making it easier to obtain long sweeping strokes parallel to the muscle fibers as with foam rollers.

8)   Lying down on the floor doesn't work for my neck so well, is there a better way?

Place the ShiatsuBag on a sofa against the armrest, then lay against them and push into the sofa with your feet generating as much pressure as you like.  Depending on the shape of the armrest it may not roll much.  For deeper penetration, clump the balls by folding the bag over.  The armrest works great for your calves and behind knees as you watch TV.

9)   The bag looks like something from the Renaissance, do you have any other style?

The satin lycra material was used because of durability and a pleasant silky feel on your skin.  The color and pattern were chosen from samples based on their neutrality.  Other fabric, designs, colors, and sizes are being considered, and after testing for durability and function, will be offered.
