The Original Massaging ShiatsuBag

The ShiatsuBag is a specially designed flexible adaptable massage bag of Myo-release balls and combines the benefits of tennis ball, foam roller, and trigger point, therapies used to treat myofascial pain syndrome, and provide trigger point release. MyoBalls, and other types of balls are the most highly recommended self-therapy tools by personal trainers, physical therapists, and chiropractors. The ShiatsuBag provides the same functions as traction racks, massage cushions, massage pillows, still point inducers, foam rollers, and back rollers.

Many of our daily activities create sore muscles, stiff joints, and other soft tissue dysfunction. Repetitive and prolonged routines in your lifestyle such as driving, sitting at a desk, or standing on an assembly line.  Injuries, surgery, and illnesses such as Fibromyalgia, as well as the inactivity they result in.  And just about everyone maintaining a healthy active fitness routine feels the affects of muscle aches and stiffness from their workouts.

Rolling massage and myofascial release as with foam rollers

Prescribed rehabilitation therapy for each patient's individual anatomical dysfunction is case-by-case, yet for virtually all, some type of soft tissue manipulation is recommended by chiropractors, physicians, physical therapists, and personal trainers.  The best, and everyone's favorite is having some form of massage, but most of us cannot afford the high cost or the inconvenience of keeping appointments.

I am enjoying my Shiatsubag very much.  The video sold me on it.

I had purchased a Shiatsu board from Shiatsu-Aid Products Co of Los Angeles, CA, so I had an idea of how your product would work before I bought it.  Their product was a plastic board with holes drilled in it and hard plastic balls with an extension were stuck in these holes in various patterns.  The plastic was starting to split so I hadn't been using it lately.  Your product is more flexible in hitting the various trigger points because theirs had to be lined up specifically.  Lying on their product was very hard as you would expect from the hard plastic balls but you kinda melted into it.  I don't get that same effect with the Shiatsubag so I am very happy that I bought it.

The ShiatsuBag is so simple, yet is produced and available only from ShiatsuMD and approved partners.

"the concept of rolling on balls is simple but effective. My favorite area to use the bag is behind my shoulder blades."

Foam rollers are highly recommended self-therapy tools and are the predominant tool used for Self Myofascial Release (SMR).  Replacing a foam roller with a ShiatsuBag for Upper body, and Lower Body

The self therapy tool most often recommended by Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Personal Fitness Trainers is the common tennis ball which is used for what is commonly known as Tennis Ball Therapy.

It’s all about the balls

A nice selection of balls is the best massage, joint mobilization, and trigger point therapy tool collection you can have. And the best thing about the ShiatsuBag is that it comes with 15 removable, high-quality balls in two sizes.  Almost every commercial self-massage product on the market uses a smooth curved or ball shaped surface as the point of contact to our body because it works the best.

The ShiatsuBag is adaptable and the can be used with any number of balls (comes with 15 Shiatsuballs), simple to use, lightweight, portable and can be used anywhere, anytime. It is a uniquely designed flexible bag containing high density closed cell foam balls that provide soft tissue manipulations ranging from massage and myofascial therapy, to deep tissue trigger point release and acupressure.

"one of the advantages of the bag -- and this is an important, positive point -- is that the user CAN achieve some precision with your tool.  It may provide a lot of miscellaneous tissue stimulation, but it also offers some potential to settle into a more precise pressure."   Paul Ingraham  RMT

Paul Ingraham, an RMT in Vancouver, Canada, is an expert on common injuries and pain problems, and publishes detailed and scientific tutorials on his website, SaveYourself.ca, especially trigger and myofascial pain syndrome.

The lightweight (2 lbs) ShiatsuBag is a therapeutic flexible massage pillow that can be shaped for any part of your body and will provide deep soft tissue penetration to your sore neck and shoulder muscles.  It can be used anywhere you like to relax; your favorite chair, sofa, bed, or recliner.  It is a fantastic travel pillow and massaging seat cushion you can take in your car.

The ShiatsuBag (FAQ)

Dear ShiatsuMD,

I am a 58 year old woman serving in an eatery and stand for over 6 hours 5 days a week and have had neck and upper back pain going back many years.  I've needed weekly visits to the chiropractor (which I pay because it is not covered) for the past 4 years just to be able to continue to work.  I received a ShiatsuBag as a gift in January 2009 and really didn't do much with it until I showed it to a neighbor that is a personal trainer and had been helping me with my chronic pain using balls.  He called the ShiatsuBag  "brilliant" and convinced me to start using it.  I am so glad he did.

I use the ShiatsuBag for my upper back, shoulder blades, and neck everyday and I feel the best I have in years.  I know exactly what spots I need to massage, and laying on the bag I can easily focus on each area and apply just the right pressure until it loosens and relaxes.  I have stopped the weekly visits to my chiropractor which is saving me $40 a visit.  It's nice to get a gift that has done so much for me.  I also have the ShiatsuRoller and find it great using it on the back of my neck while I lay on the floor and in bed.

  The MyoBalls

MyoBalls are made from lightweight high density closed cell foam that is odorless, inert, and non-allergenic. They do not absorb moisture, odors, or host bacteria and are guaranteed not to crack, split, rupture, or deflate.

"Many times I've heard claims that the material of a massage tool is “special,” and found the claim to be as inflated as the price. But these balls not only do feel kind of special to me, but they are inexpensive as well"

                                                Paul Ingraham, RMT

The inspiration for the ShiatsuBag arose during physical rehab for open rotator cuff surgery.  This can be one of the most painful rehabs and often the patient's range of motion is significantly reduced.  Using a ShiatsuBag provided pain relieving deep tissue massage, broke down the adhesions and scar tissue while stretching the soft tissue in all directions, so that the full range of motion was almost completely restored.
